OpenSpartan is a project that I started as a labor of love and appreciation for the Halo universe.
I’ve played every single Halo ever released since 2012 and one curious aspect was something that was always front and center for me - data around the gameplay. Since the release of Halo Infinite, I’ve been diving into the depths of the public, yet undocumented Halo Infinite APIs which allowed me to spin up quite a few projects in my quest to analyze my own match performance. This site is a more formal effort to document everything without shoving every single piece of content on my personal blog.
Among the many things that I built to help me in my Halo journey, some projects you might want to check out:
The more I built those out, the more I discovered that I really enjoy building developer tools for Halo in my free time and documenting the end-to-end experience. And I also realized that my personal blog started getting a bit of a Halo skew, so the most straightforward approach to ensuring that folks interested in my Halo-related work can follow along without other random explorations mixed in. OpenSpartan is all about shining a light on my tinkering and enhancing the tools one might need to explore Halo statistics.
Absolutely not. This is my own project that I build in my free time. It’s not part of my job duties, and it’s not officially endorsed, verified, or otherwise supported by 343 Industries and/or Microsoft.
Same as above, absolutely not. Everything you see here is documented from public Halo builds, using the public Halo APIs, and using my own account that doesn’t have any special permissions or privileges granted. OpenSpartan, as a matter of principle, will never cover leaks, unreleased items/components, or otherwise anything that 343 Industries has not included in already-released public builds of Halo games. Any conversations in the comments on this subject that post unreleased non-public information or suggest ways in which someone can gain that information will be shut down immediately and posters banned.
No. OpenSpartan is about exploring Halo data and building tools that augment your experience, giving you visibility into your match stats, behavior within maps, or tools that allow you to have a trusty companion as you play matchmade games. Nothing that is described here will help you gain an unfair advantage in the game or modify the game files/data to cheat. Any conversations in the comments on this subject will be shut down immediately and posters banned.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments - leave them in any of the documents or blog posts. You can also send an email to [email protected]
- I do my best to answer folks in a reasonable timeframe.
